problematic beis

The Beis of yirbu - is this a beis or a nun?
I think a tinok can be asked.

  1. See Shevat HaLevi Chelek 8 Siman 12 ois 6

Not mamash the same. The Beis here seems somewhat 'worse'

  2. I agree that a tinok should work. The thick high Ekev of (Ksav A. Rebbe) throws it off from assuming to take the status of a nun.

  3. My opinion is that a tinok will NOT help since the difference of a beis and nun is that the nuns moshav is wide.I WOULD BE IT MACHSHIR FOR A NUN WITH A TINOK.Mikdash Me'at brings Levush, Pri Megadim and explains Darkei Moshe that nun with wide head is kosher if moshav is wider.

  6. The Mikdash Maat Ois ב: sif katan 10 explains when in doubt if the beis could look like a nun because the gag is shorter than the moshav a tinok helps.

See also the Mishnas Sofrim Ois ב that explains when in doubt since the gag is very short we go after a tinok.
In addition to this, the high thick ekev of the ב helps.

  7. I asked R' Shammai Gross today. He said mitzad the short rosh and problem of looking like a Nun it's ok. In regards to looking like a proper beis he also said is ok -- no shailos tinnok.

  10. I would say this: it doesn't look at all like a nun. But since the gag is short and a tinok may not recognize it as a beis, he might take a further step thinking its a messed-up nun. so both are correct!
